This tour combines the two most popular sights near Barcelona. You visit the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat which is the religious and spiritual center of the region and also a Natural Park and the wine county of “El Penedés”, the largest producer of “Cava” (method Champenoise) in Spain. We´ll visit the largest underground cellar in the world, Codorniu.

*Please, look out for our guide who will have an orange umbrella. The coach leaves at 8,30am, so we recommend arriving 15 minutes early.
We’ll take the highway to Sant Sadurni d’Anoia where about 90% of the Spanish “Cava” comes from. We’ll visit the Codorniu Cellar, designed by Puig I Cadafach in Modernist style and declared Monument of Artistic Interest. Here was produced the first bottle of “Cava” in 1872.
Then we continue to Montserrat , we’ll take a mountain panoramic road that reaches to 725 metres above sea level (some 2378 feet) where the Sanctuary is located. This last section of the journey it’s so beautiful, it allows to admire the vegetation, the so unique geological formations, the trails and paths and above all, spectacular views.
Once we reach the Sanctuary we’ll do a walking tour of about 40 minutes. It’s not allow, for worship reasons, to talk inside the Basilica, that’s why all the explanations will be outdoors. We’ll lead you to the Shrine of the Black Madonna of Montserrat or “la Moreneta” as we call her here.
We’ll have over an hour of free time to visit the Art Museum, do some walks, shopping, see the open air food market, pictures …
The tour will end at Plaza Catalunya, where it began.
