The Penedes county is known for it´s Cava production, white grapes varieties predominate, although the region also produces some highly regarded oak-aged reds. Wine growing is carried out at over 300 wineries where they produce 70% of the Spanish sparkling wines, some 200 million bottles annually.
We´ll visit the Codorniu Cellars, they have more than 500 years of history. The cellars were declared National Artisitc Historical Monument and are one of the finest examples of Modernist archirecture.

If you decide to go on your own, it takes long … about 1hr from Barcelona Sants station to Sant Sadurní and then a 20 minutes walk to Codorniu cellars. From Sant Sadurní, there are buses going to Sitges, but it takes long, about 1,30 minutes.
