Only 40 kms (28 miles) south of Bcn which means around a 45 minutes drive on a toll  highway.

The Penedes county is known for it´s Cava production, white grapes varieties predominate, although the region also produces some highly regarded oak-aged reds. Wine growing is carried out at over 300 wineries where they produce 70% of the Spanish sparkling wines, some 200 million bottles annually.
We´ll visit the Codorniu Cellars, they have more than 500 years of history. The cellars were declared National Artisitc Historical Monument and are one of the finest examples of Modernist archirecture.

From the cellars to Montserrat there are 50 kms (31 miles) and we´ll take  a panoramic road that rises to 725 meters (2378 feet) to reach the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat.

Montserrat has been called many times “The Magic Mountain” as it is an unique geological formation and a spiritual center as well as a place to enjoy great views, do amazing walks, take rides with the track rails, shop at the open air food market of local products, visit the art museum … and of course! See and touch the “Moreneta” or Black Madonna, patron Saint of Catalonian.

Once we reach the Monastery, you´ll do a guided tour of about 40 minutes (please note, that all explanations will be outdoors as it isn´t allowed to talk inside the Basilica for worship reasons). Our guide will lead you through the history of the place and show you all what you need to know to get the most out of your free time.
